Following lobbying by the Churchill Labour Action Team, we are happy to report that Network Rail has fenced off the underside of Grosvenor Rail Bridge.
We had received many complaints about anti-social behaviour on the site and reports of vulnerable rough sleepers being victimised by others due to the site’s remote location. There were also reports of threatening behaviour and abuse towards outreach workers.
Churchill Labour Councillors worked with TfL and Council Officers to identify who owned the site and to get the relevant permissions to enable it to be closed.
We also worked closely with the Police and Council Officers to ensure the person on the site has been given full support.
Fencing off the site also meant it could be cleared of debris which could have affected the safety of the rail bridge.
