Churchill Ward Labour councillor: Cllr Shamim Talukder
Shamim has been a Churchill Ward Labour Councillor since 2014 and is well-known across the ward for his community work and regularly working with young people on community projects. Churchill Ward is close to Shamim’s heart as he grew up in here and attended Pimlico School. With a young family, Shamim knows the importance of protecting important local services and has worked on many local campaigns including the campaign against the closure of Westminster Fire Station. Churchill Ward Labour councillor: Cllr Liza Begum
Liza was elected in the Churchill Ward by-election on 6 May 2021. She lives in Churchill Ward and has been a tireless and visible campaigner on local issues. Her campaign to save Walden House and Cundy Street Flats received national media attention and it resulted in a victory for residents: winning the right to return for long established local social housing residents.

Liza was born to a working-class British Bangladeshi family and has lived in Pimlico her whole life. Born in Westminster Hospital she  attended St Barnabas C of E primary school and Pimlico Academy. She is embedded in the local community. Liza has over a decade of experience behind her working for the Imperial Hospital NHS Trust.

Liza is dedicated to helping residents. During the pandemic she has been a mutual aid volunteer supporting the most vulnerable in our community. Liza knows the issues that matter to local people and understands its diversity. She has a proven track record of working for local people and campaigning on the importance of council housing at the heart of our communities. She is determined to work for and with all residents. Jason is an experienced local community campaigner who worked tirelessly for the residents of Churchill Ward as a Councillor between 2014 and 2018. He is a trustee of two local charities in Churchill Ward as well as a School Governor. Jason was involved in the Post Office campaign, as well as working with residents on a range of issues including provision for young people.
